Arsenal battling with PL rivals to sign Khephren Thuram

By on March 5, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly battling with Premier League rivals to sign Juventus star Khephren Thuram, as per Caught Offside.

The Gunners currently have Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, and Christian Norgaard as options to deploy in the deeper midfield positions.

However, Merino has been out injured in recent weeks, while Norgaard has found it difficult to find regular game time since joining from Brentford last summer.

As a result, Zubimendi and Rice have taken on enormous workloads this season, helping the North London club mount a Premier League title charge.

Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal are considering adding depth to the engine room in the summer and have earmarked Thuram as a serious option. The Gunners’ recruitment department admire the Frenchman’s technical qualities and his ability to play in high-tempo systems.

So, although Arsenal are cautious about finalising the operation, they could make a concrete approach during the offseason.

However, purchasing the 24-year-old won’t be straightforward as Manchester United and Liverpool are also interested in him, with the Merseyside club preparing to launch a formal £39m proposal plus bonus to win the race.

Thuram to Arsenal

The report state that Juventus aren’t in any rush to sell Thuram as his existing deal is set to run until 2029 and may demand up to £65m to allow him to leave.

Thuram is the son of former defender Lilian Thuram and the brother of Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram. The 24-year-old is comfortable playing in the box-to-box and defensive midfield positions.

He has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A since joining from OGC Nice in 2024. He has netted twice and registered three assists in 35 appearances across all competitions this season.

After showing glimpses of his qualities in the Italian top-flight, Thuram, standing at 6ft 4in tall, has secured his place in Didier Deschamps’ French national team.

So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they sign him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services ahead of next season.
