Arsenal tracking Cagliari’s Marco Palestra move
Arsenal scouts are keeping a close eye on Cagliari full-back Marco Palestra, according to journalist Nico Schira.
The North London club are assessing options at right-back as they plan ahead for next season. There remains some doubt over Ben White’s long-term role, which has sparked fresh checks on alternatives.
Palestra is the latest name to enter the frame as Arsenal review possible additions in that area.
The young defender is currently on loan at Cagliari from Atalanta and has made a steady impression in Serie A. He has already featured 26 times this campaign.
Arsenal have been linked with Ivan Fresneda, but attention has now shifted towards Palestra. Club scouts have reportedly followed his displays in Italy closely in recent weeks.
Atalanta set £44m valuation
The report claims that Atalanta would demand a fee of around £44 million to part ways with the defender. The Italian side are aware of the growing interest and value him highly.
Palestra has chipped in with one goal and four assists for Cagliari this season. He is viewed as a modern full-back who enjoys pushing forward whenever space opens up. His pace and control allow him to carry the ball into advanced areas.
Arsenal are said to admire his attacking drive as they seek more depth and balance on the right side. The club want strong competition in that role moving forward.
What Palestra would bring to Arsenal
Palestra is known for his sharp dribbling and willingness to take on defenders. He ranks very highly for successful take-ons and progressive carries among players in his position.
Despite his attacking threat, he also shows good awareness in defensive areas. His positioning is calm and measured for a player of his age.
A product of Atalanta’s youth system, he is comfortable using both feet. That quality allows him to operate as either an overlapping or inverted full-back.
His style fits the modern demands placed on wide defenders in top-level football. He can stretch play on the outside or step inside to support midfield build-up.
Arsenal’s interest suggests they are planning carefully for the future. Whether a formal move follows may depend on Atalanta’s stance and the club’s summer priorities.
