Predicted Arsenal line-up against Napoli
Arsenal are set to face Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in the opening Champions League fixture tonight.
After lifting the Premier League title last term, the Gunners have enjoyed a stellar start this season, winning the first three Premier League encounters against Coventry City, Aston Villa and Chelsea. Moreover, they won the Community Shield by thrashing Manchester City 3-0 last month.
On the other hand, following Antonio Conte’s departure, Napoli have started a new era under Massimiliano Allegri’s guidance this season. However, they have endured a difficult start, losing two out of the first three Serie A games.
Team news
Jurrien Timber has been out due to a groin injury over the last few months but has returned to training and has even travelled with the squad for this fixture.
Mosquera started the first two games of this season before sustaining an injury against Aston Villa. So, he isn’t in contention to be involved tonight.
On the other hand, having sustained a back issue during international duty with France, William Saliba is set to remain sidelined for an extended period. Meaning he is unavailable for this fixture.
Predicted line-up
Mikel Arteta has a deep squad and may shuffle the pack to keep everyone fresh amid this busy period. But David Raya is set to continue between the sticks; therefore, Illan Meslier and Kepa Arrizabalaga would be among the substitutes.
Amid Mosquera and Saliba’s absences, new summer signing Ezri Konsa should start in the centre-back position, having displayed a promising performance vs Chelsea last weekend. Gabriel Magalhaes is expected to be alongside the Englishman for Arsenal.
Ben White should continue in the right-back position, and Piero Hincapié might get the nod to start on the opposite side. So, Riccardo Calafiori could feature as a substitute if needed.
Martin Zubimendi may commence in the deep-lying playmaker position, with Declan Rice in the box-to-box role. Martin Odegaard should be in the CAM position, having displayed an impressive performance last time out. Therefore, Mikel Merino, Bruno Guimaraes and Myles Lewis-Skelly could be among the substitutes.
Eberechi Eze is likely to be deployed on the left flank, and Bukayo Saka would be on the opposite side. Viktor Gyokeres could get the nod to lead the line for the Gunners. In that case, Christos Tzolis, Kai Havertz and Noni Madueke would have to make do with a place on the bench.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Napoli
Raya; White, Konsa, Gabriel, Hincapié, Zubimendi, Rice, Odegaard; Eze, Gyokeres, Saka
