Arsenal Dealt Injury Blow Ahead Of Crucial Double Header

According to reports this morning, Bacary Sagna’s hamstring injury is worse than first feared and he’ll miss our crucial double header with Napoli and Manchester City this week.
We head into tomorrow’s final Champions League group game away at Napoli needing to avoid a 3-goal defeat to progress to the knockout stages while a draw or win would ensure we finish top.
That game is quickly followed by a lunchtime kick-off at the Etihad on Saturday where we’ll meet Manchester City for what’s going to be the toughest test of our Premier League title credentials yet this season.
However, it seems we’ll have to face these daunting trips without one of our most experienced players with Sagna set to miss out with a hamstring problem.
The Frenchman was ruled out of last weeks win over Hull and Sunday’s draw with Everton after Arsene Wenger revealed he had suffered a ‘slight hamstring’ strain that was only meant to keep him on the sidelines for a short spell.
But it appears the problem is worse than first thought with Goal reporting that the 30-year-old will take no part in our next two fixtures.
Sagna’s absence is obviously a blow but it means that young Carl Jenkinson will retain his place at right-back. He played reasonably well on Sunday but we’ll need two huge performances from him over the next five days.
