Arsenal eye move to sign Everton star Iliman Ndiaye
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye, as per Caught Offside.
After being impressed by the 25-year-old’s performances for Olympique de Marseille, the Merseyside club decided to sign him ahead of the last campaign.
Now, he has established himself as a key starter in the Toffees’ starting line-up. After netting 11 goals across all competitions last term, the forward has scored four goals and registered two assists in 19 Premier League appearances thus far this season.
Having impressed in club football, Ndiaye has secured his place in the Senegal national team’s starting line-up, helping his country win the recently concluded AFCON.
Caught Offside claim that Arsenal are interested in strengthening the flanks with an unpredictable player in the summer and have earmarked the African as a serious option. They have been monitoring his performances closely before making a potential swoop.
With Ndiaye’s current contract set to run until 2029, Everton are in no rush to sell him and have slapped a £65m price tag on his head to keep the vultures away.
The report state that the North London club aren’t the only team in this race, as Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur have also been keeping a close eye on his performances before making a potential swoop.
Ndiaye to Arsenal
Ndiaye is a versatile player as he is comfortable on either flank. He isn’t particularly tall, but is strong. Moreover, the Everton star is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and also works hard without possession.
Currently, Mikel Arteta has Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as options to deploy on the left flank. But the Brazilian has been struggling to showcase his best in the Premier League, though he has displayed glimpses of his goal-scoring prowess in cup competitions.
On the other hand, Trossard has entered the final 18 months of his current contract and is set to turn 32 later this year. So, Arsenal could do with upgrading the left flank.
Ndiaye has shown glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League in recent times and could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his service.
