Arsenal face Man Utd threat over Tyjon move

Arsenal’s chase for young striker Igor Tyjon is facing fresh pressure, with Manchester United now pushing hard to enter the race. Reports from The Sun suggest United are keen to move ahead of Arsenal and change the direction of the deal.
The Blackburn Rovers forward has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time as they plan for the future. Tyjon has already turned down the chance to sign a professional contract at Ewood Park, which has opened the door for rival clubs.
Arsenal have been viewed as the leading club in the race, but that position now looks less secure. United are believed to be watching closely as the situation develops during the January window.
Arsenal still lead but pressure grows
The Gunners have followed Tyjon closely due to his steady rise through Blackburn’s youth system. The striker is highly rated for his movement, work rate, and calm finishing in front of goal.
Rovers previously rejected a £1 million offer from Arsenal in 2024 for the young forward. Despite that rejection, Arsenal have remained confident about their chances of securing an agreement.
The club see Tyjon as a strong fit for their academy structure and long-term plans. However, The Red Devils are now said to be ready to challenge Arsenal’s position.
United want to strengthen their academy and believe Tyjon could grow well in their system. Their interest adds new pressure to a situation that already carries time limits for Blackburn.
January is the final window for Rovers to secure a proper development fee for the striker.
January window key
If Blackburn fail to act in January, their options will reduce sharply. The club would then only be able to claim basic compensation when Tyjon leaves in the summer.
At that stage, the player would be free to agree terms with another club. This puts Blackburn in a difficult position as they weigh short-term value against future planning.
The exact fee Blackburn would ask for Tyjon remains unclear at this stage. Tyjon has already gained senior experience during the 2024/25 season with Blackburn.
He has made three first-team appearances across league and cup competitions. Two of those outings came in the Championship, with another in the EFL Cup. At international level, Tyjon has represented both England and Poland at youth stages.
Whether Arsenal or United win the race, the move would strengthen an academy setup.
Blackburn must now decide quickly as interest grows and the window continues to move forward.
