Arsenal plot swoop to sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers

By on October 15, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.

It was reported in the summer transfer window that the Gunners were looking to buy a new left-sided forward following Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard’s inconsistent performances last term. Moreover, they also wanted a creative midfielder.

Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes, Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon, Atalanta ace Ademola Lookman, and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao were linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Eventually, Mikel Arteta’s side only signed Eberechi Eze to bolster the attacking midfield department, opting not to go for any specialist left-sided forward.

Martinelli has enjoyed a promising start to this season, while Trossard has also showcased his goal-scoring prowess. However, on TBR Football, Bailey says that Arsenal are still looking for a new forward next year and are keen on purchasing their long-term target, Rogers.

Signing the Englishman won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also plotting a swoop for him. Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, have been monitoring his development closely before making a potential swoop.

Rogers to Arsenal

Nevertheless, the journalist says that Chelsea are the favourites to sign Rogers. Aston Villa don’t want to part ways with the 23-year-old and are planning to hand him an improved deal to persuade him to stay, even though his existing deal is set to run until 2030.

They are willing to make him one of the highest earners at the club. So, Arsenal will have to overcome several obstacles to finalise the operations next year.

Like Eze, Rogers is also a versatile player, as his preferred position is the No.10 role but is also comfortable playing on the left flank. The youngster is capable of providing cover on the right flank, but he doesn’t play at his best in this role.

Rogers, valued at around £48m by Transfermarkt, has proven his worth at the highest level in recent times and has even established himself as a key player in the England national team.

So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his services by defeating other clubs in this race.
