Fabregas Open To Arsenal Return
Former captain Cesc Fabregas has admitted Arsenal are in his heart and he would consider returning to the club one day.
The Spanish midfielder made the brave decision to leave Barcelona and join Arsenal in 2003 aged just 16 and went on to make over 300 appearances during an eight-year stay in north London before eventually returning ‘home’ in 2011.
In a revealing interview with the Guardian, Fabregas has once again admitted Arsenal hold a place close to his heart and revealed he would be open to retuning to the club one day, whether in a playing or coaching capacity.
“Arsenal is in my heart and always will be. I don’t know if I’ll have the opportunity to go back and play there one day, or maybe after football.
“It’s a club that is always going to be there and will always open its doors to me. The club’s like a family so even if it wasn’t as a coach, I’m sure they’d give me the chance to play a role. Sol [Campbell] is there now.
Arsenal help a lot with the formation of coaches. [Dennis] Bergkamp also went there two, three times a week when he was doing his coaching badges. In that sense it’s a lovely club and there might be the chance to do something with them.” Cesc told the Guardian newspaper
Interesting stuff. It’s clear Cesc still loves the club and if I was a betting man, I’d back him to play for us again at some point in the future.
Probably not for at least another 3 or 4 years but I have a feeling he’ll come back towards the end of his career for one last swan-song. There would be no point him coming back any sooner anyway, as he may struggle to get in our first team the way the lads are playing so far this season!
Cesc also had his say on a number of other topics in the interview, including his thoughts on the signings of Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Flamini, and whether he thinks Arsenal can end their trophy drought this season. I’ll bring you more extracts from the interview a little later.
Would you like to see Fabregas return to the club?
