Arsenal open talks with Bayern Munich over Kimmich deal

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal have opened talks with Bayern Munich regarding Joshua Kimmich’s availability this summer.
Kimmich is one player whose name has kept appearing in transfer gossip columns lately. His contract with the Bundesliga giant expires in the summer of 2025, so understandably there is interest in his future.
Efforts to lock him down to a new contract have failed so far; the Bavarians haven’t given up hope of agreeing a new deal, but if not, they may have to cash in on him this summer.
Kimmich to Arsenal
Arsenal are aware that Bayern Munich are in an awkward position regarding Kimmich’s long-term future. According to Football Transfers, the Gunners have made contact with the German side to make it clear they are interested in Kimmich and asked to be kept informed about his situation.
Interestingly, during the March international break, the report says Kai Havertz spoke personally with the Bayern Munich star about a possible move to the Emirates Stadium this summer. So, it looks like Havertz is acting as a secret agent.
As good as Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice have been, Arsenal’s midfield appears to be lacking something. Arsenal are looking to sign a quality midfielder in the summer due to the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho.
A player like Kimmich would be an excellent addition to this Arsenal team. He would add winning experience, could be a leader in the dressing room, and his abilities will undoubtedly strengthen Arsenal’s engine room.
Not only that, but with his ability to also feature at right back, Arteta would get another utility player who’s capable of playing in two different roles.
Reports suggest that he might cost up to £69 million, and as Kimmich is 29 years old, would it be a wise investment for Arsenal to spend that kind of money on him?
That’s a question the Gunners have to ponder, given there are cheaper and younger alternatives. Martin Zubimendi, one of their other midfield targets, is available for his £51 million release clause so he could be seen as a more long-term investment by the club.
