VIDEO: Arsenal 2-1 Urawa Red Diamonds: Akpom Hits Late Winner
Substitute Chuba Akpom scored a late winner to help Arsenal to a 2-1 win over the Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan on Friday afternoon.
Lukas Podolski opened the scoring just 4 minutes after coming on at the break, volleying home from 15 yards after an excellent move involving Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott.
The hosts levelled midway through the second half when defender Yuki Abe was on hand to volley home a loose ball in the box following a corner. However, Chuba Akpom grabbed the winner in the 82nd minute, pouncing on a defensive mistake to fire into an empty net for 2-1.
That’s four wins from four pre-season games in the Far East and it’s been a hugely successful trip, but the club will now fly home to prepare for next weekends Emirates Cup.
