Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny offers injury update

Laurent Koscielny has offered an update on the injury that forced him off during Arsenal’s humiliating 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich last night.

Koscielny was playing well at the Allianz Arena and even won us the penalty that led to what should have been a vital away goal as we went in to the break level at 1-1 with the German giants.

However, the French international limped off just minutes after the restart and we totally collapsed the second Gabriel replaced him at centre-back.

Bayern scored three goals in the ten minutes following Koscielny’s exit as they all-but ended our Champions League hopes for another season with a 5-1 win.

We’ll never know what would have happened if Kos had stayed on the pitch but the defender has now offered more details on the injury that forced him off last night.

The Daily Star say that Koscielny told BeIN Sports after the game that he picked up a hamstring injury during the first half and while he tried to carry on after applying some strapping, the pain got worse while stretching for the ball after the break.

Koscielny says he decided not to risk making the injury any worse so he chose to come off, which has hopefully prevented it from developing in to anything serious.

The 31-year-old is certain to sit out our FA Cup trip to Sutton on Monday night and as we don’t have any game the following weekend, he’ll have over two weeks to recover before we face Liverpool on March 4th.

Let’s hope Kos managed to overcome the issue before we head to Anfield as I dread to think what a pumped-up Liverpool side will do to our fragile defence without him.
