Arsene Wenger confirms duo will return vs Chelsea + Wilshere update
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Hector Bellerin and Aaron Ramsey will return to the squad to face Chelsea tomorrow while Jack Wilshere is set to undergo his surgery next week.
Bellerin and Ramsey both didn’t travel to Croatian for Wednesday night’s disappointing Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb and some fans were concerned they may have picked up knocks.
However, Wenger confirmed at his pre-match press conference this morning that the duo were simply rested ahead of our trip to Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
I’d expect Bellerin to come straight back in for Mathieu Debuchy at right-back while Ramsey is also likely to start ahead of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right-wing.
The boss also gave an update on stricken midfielder Jack Wilshere. The 23-year-old hasn’t featured this season due to a fractured fibula and it was revealed last week that he’ll require surgery to cure the problem once and for all.
It had been suggested that the operation would take place this week but Arsene says it will now happen next week and he’s confident this latest injury won’t have any affect on Jack’s long-term career.
He told Arsenal.com:
on the team news…
We have no injuries and we left Ramsey and Bellerin behind [for the Zagreb game]. They integrate into the squad again.
on Jack Wilshere…
He will have surgery next week and it is a blow, a big problem. But on the short term only because it does not damage his future.
