Arsene Wenger Confirms Attacking Duo Will Miss Sunderland Game
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck have been ruled out of Arsenal’s clash with Sunderland tomorrow night, Arsene Wenger has confirmed today.
The Ox has been on the sidelines for over two months after initially pulling his hamstring during our FA Cup quarter-final win over Manchester United in March.
The 21-year-old then picked up a groin injury and just as he was on the cusp of returning at the start of this month, he suffered a recurrence of his hamstring problem in training last week.
Arsene has now ruled the midfielder out of tomorrow’s clash with Sunderland and it looks increasingly unlikely that we’ll see him again this season.
In a double blow, Welbeck is also out of the Sunderland game as he continues to nurse a troublesome knee injury that’s seen him miss the last three games.
This injury is less serious so we may see him return against West Brom on Sunday which would put the 24-year-old in contention for the FA Cup final.
As I reported earlier, Laurent Koscielny is also a doubt to face Sunderland while Mathieu Debuchy is still not fit enough to return, so we could be without four key players tomorrow night.
Hopefully we can still get a result to secure third as it would allow the boss to rest some key players against the Baggies ahead of the big game at Wembley next weekend.
