Arsenal Need To Move Quickly To Land £40m-Rated Attacker – Report

According to a report in the Express, Arsenal are going to need to move quickly if they want to complete a deal for Marco Reus with Real Madrid set to open the bidding for the German attacker.

Reus only signed a new long-term contract extension with Borussia Dortmund in February but that hasn’t stopped speculation suggesting he’ll leave the club this summer.

Jurgen Klopp is set to end his seven-year stay at the Wesfalonstadion and with the former Bundesliga champions sitting mid-table, they will almost certainly miss out on Champions League football and rumours suggest some of their key men will follow their boss out the exit door.

Reus has long been linked with a move to the Emirates and newspaper reports in recent months have suggested that Arsene Wenger is ready to renew his interest at the end of the season.

However, the Express say we’ll have to act quickly if we want to stand a chance of landing the 25-year-old as Real Madrid are supposedly set to table an opening £25m bid to test the water.

That offer will almost certainly be rejected out-of-hand by Dortmund but it’s believed that he could go if a bid nearer £40m goes in.

That price would be more than reasonable in today’s market for a player of Reus’ quality, but I don’t think Arsene will be rushed into making a decision.

Any move for Reus is likely to depend on the future of Theo Walcott and his contract extension talks are expected to drag – when they eventually get under way.

So as much as I’d love us to sign Reus, I don’t think we’ll make any official play for his signature any time soon which could see us miss out if Madrid are serious and Dortmund are willing to do business.
