Arsenal Agree £4.5m Deal To Sign Argentinean Wonderkid – Reports

According to reports, Arsenal have agreed terms over a £4.5m deal to sign Velez Sarsfield wonderkid Maxi Romero.

Arsene Wenger was made aware of the talented 16-year-old’s potential by his South American scouts and acted quickly to try and get a deal agreed.

The strikers agent Rolando Zarate has already revealed that he’s met with the boss in London twice in recent weeks while reports last week claimed that we had entered formal talks with Sarsfield and had sent Dick Law over to Argentina to wrap up the deal.

The clubs president Raul Gamez then confirmed that we’d tabled a ‘big offer’, telling reporters:

“Arsenal have made a big offer for Maxi Romero. I don’t want to talk figures just yet but it’s a big offer.” Games said.

The deal was being held up over ownership rights issues, with a third-party investment company understood to own a large percentage of the youngsters economic rights.

However, it seems Dick Law has worked his magic as the Mirror claim that those issues have now been resolved and we’ve agreed terms over a £4.5m deal.

Romero will remain at Sarsfield until he turns 18 at which point he’ll move to Arsenal before probably being sent out on loan for a season or two.

He’s not going to make any impact on the Arsenal first team for a while but he sounds like he’s got a bright future ahead of him, with some South American newspapers dubbing him the ‘next Messi’.
