Arsenal have reportedly held discussions over a deal to sign West Ham United defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, as per Caught Offside.

After joining the Gunners from PAS Giannina back in 2018, the Greek initially struggled to adapt to the Premier League’s physicality. So, he went out on loan on a couple of occasions before signing for Stuttgart permanently in 2022.

After being impressed by his performances in the Bundesliga, the Hammers decided to purchase him the following year. He initially took time to settle into his new surroundings before featuring regularly in the last campaign.

Although he failed to help his side survive relegation, he scored three goals and kept seven clean sheets in 35 appearances across all competitions last term.

Having proven his worth in club football, the 28-year-old has secured his place in the Greek national team’s starting line-up.

Now, Caught Offside claim that although William Saliba’s back injury has forced Arsenal to look for a new centre-back this summer, they have been exploring the possibility of bolstering this position for months.

Following West Ham’s relegation, Mavropanos is likely to leave, and the Emirates club have already held internal discussions to re-sign him.

Mavropanos to Arsenal

With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2028, West Ham are in a strong position to demand a sizable amount of money for him, with the player valued at around £15m by Transfermarkt.

The report state that apart from the West Ham star, Arsenal are also interested in Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa. They previously expressed their interest in Jacobo Ramon and Victor Valdepeñas, but they have cooled their interest in the Como star, while Valdepeñas has agreed to join Fiorentina.

Mavropanos is a 6ft 4in tall, right-footed centre-back. He is quick, strong, good in the air, can play out from the back, and is efficient in defensive contributions.

Mavropanos is a Premier League proven player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services this summer.
