Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, as per The Athletic.

The Gunners bought eight new players for around £267m last summer. As a result, they enjoyed a highly successful campaign, winning the Premier League and reaching the Champions League final before losing to Les Parisiens on penalties.

However, with the new campaign just five weeks away, Arsenal are yet to make a signing this summer, although they have been linked with several players.

In contrast, other Premier League heavyweights have already strengthened their squads, with Tottenham Hotspur the busiest despite finishing 17th in each of the last three Premier League seasons.

Now, The Athletic report that Arsenal are considering upgrading the attacking department with a marquee new acquisition and have identified Barcola as a serious option.

However, the North London club’s top target for the attack is Morgan Rogers. But Aston Villa want more than the £116m Manchester City paid to purchase Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.

The report state that apart from the Emirates club, Liverpool are also interested in Barcola, with the Reds planning to revamp the flanks following Mohamed Salah’s departure.

Barcola to Arsenal

With Barcola’s existing deal set to run until 2028, PSG are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to cash-in, with the player valued at around £60m by Transfermarkt.

Barcola is a right-footed left-winger by trait. The 23-year-old has showcased his productivity at Parc des Princes over the last two seasons, helping his side win every possible major competition.

However, Luis Enrique showed reluctance to start Barcola in important matches. So, speculation surrounding his future has been emerging in this window. After proving his worth in club football, he has secured his place in the France national team.

Barcola is a top-class player and hasn’t reached his prime yet. But with PSG exploring signing Maghnes Akliouche and Yan Diomande this summer, Barcola might find himself down in the pecking order next term.

Therefore, the youngster could be better off leaving the French capital to flourish his career if PSG sign the duo. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to secure his services this summer.
