Mikel Arteta keen on signing Morgan Rogers at Arsenal

By on June 1, 2026

Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen on signing Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers at Arsenal, as per the Mirror.

After helping the Gunners overcome more than two decades of Premier League title drought, the Spanish boss is willing to refresh the squad this summer to continue challenging on all fronts next season.

Although the North London club enjoyed a successful time this term, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard displayed inconsistent performances.

As a result, it has been widely suggested that Arsenal are contemplating reinforcing the left flank this summer. The Mirror state that Arteta likes having versatile players and is keen on signing Rogers at the Emirates Stadium.

The Aston Villa star is comfortable playing on the left flank, but is a creative midfielder by trait. Furthermore, he can provide cover on the right if needed. Arsenal are even open to cashing-in on Martinelli to create space in the squad for Rogers’ arrival.

With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2031, Unai Emery’s side are in a strong position to demand a huge fee if they are forced to cash-in, with the player valued at around £69m by Transfermarkt.

The report state that Aston Villa’s high valuation won’t be the only obstacle for Arsenal to seal the deal, as Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed their interest in signing him.

Rogers to Arsenal

Since moving to Villa Park from Middlesbrough, the 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best young forwards in the Premier League, helping his side win the Europa League this season.

In 55 appearances across all competitions, Rogers scored 14 goals and registered 11 assists this term. Moreover, he has helped his side finish fourth in the Premier League.

Having proven his worth in club football, the youngster has secured his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England national team for this summer’s World Cup.

He is a top-class player and possesses the potential to flourish at the highest level. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services during this offseason.
