Arsenal keen on signing Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing AFC Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi, as per Football Insider.
After moving to the Emirates Stadium from Sporting CP last summer, Gyokeres has netted 21 goals and registered three assists in 54 appearances across all competitions this term.
The Swedish international has helped his side win the Premier League title after more than two decades and guided them to the Champions League final.
Apart from the 27-year-old, Arsenal currently have Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz as options for the centre-forward position. However, both have struggled with fitness problems in recent years.
The Brazilian is set to enter the final year of his current contract; as a result, speculation surrounding his future has been emerging ahead of the summer window.
Now, Football Insider state that Arsenal are considering signing a new striker and have earmarked Kroupi as a serious option after being impressed by his performances this season. In 21 starts in the Premier League, the 19-year-old has netted 13 goals.
Apart from the North London club, Chelsea, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in him. However, Bournemouth have no intention of letting him leave, with his existing deal set to run until 2030.
Kroupi to Arsenal
Having qualified for next season’s Europa League, Bournemouth are in a strong position to keep hold of him, and their new incoming manager Marco Rose sees the youngster as a key part of his long-term project.
The report state that the Cherries don’t want to sanction his departure, even if potential suitors such as Arsenal launch a whopping £100m proposal this summer.
Kroupi is a centre-forward by trait but is also efficient in the second striker role. He is an extremely talented player and is currently one of the best young forwards in the Premier League.
So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to lure him away from Vitality Stadium during the offseason.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are set to face reigning European champions, PSG, in the Champions League final on Saturday.
