Arsenal closely monitoring Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall
Arsenal are closely monitoring Newcastle United’s left-back ahead of a potential move to the Emirates in the summer, according to CaughtOffside.
Hall is among the standout products of Chelsea’s famous Cobham Academy, which also produced his teammate Tino Livramento. He made his senior debut under Graham Potter on November 12, 2022, in a 1–0 defeat to Newcastle United — the same side he would go on to join in 2023, initially on loan before the transfer was made permanent.
Since that switch, he has grown into a key figure within Eddie Howe’s defensive unit, registering 96 appearances across all competitions for the Magpies while also collecting four senior caps for England.
During the current campaign, the Englishman has featured in 47 games across all competitions and 30 of Newcastle’s 38 league matches, most recently starting in Sunday’s defeat to Fulham.
Even with the Magpies going down 2–0, the 21-year-old turned in an eye-catching shift. He completed 36 of 41 passes at an 88% accuracy rate, contributed two chance creations, registered seven defensive actions, and covered a total distance of 10.64km across the 90 minutes.
Now, according to CaughtOffside, Hall is set to become a subject of keen interest among several clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
One of the clubs looking to sign the 21-year-old is Arsenal, as per the report, which claims that the newly crowned Premier League champions are closely monitoring the youngster ahead of a potential summer swoop.
Fierce battle
Although Newcastle are adamant on retaining Hall at St. James Park beyond the summer, the Magpies could consider his sale if a ‘major offer’ arrives and have placed a £55m valuation on the youngster amid interest from the Gunners, according to the report.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side faces stern competition from Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Manchester United, who have shown ‘genuine’ interest in Hall after impressing the club’s director, Jason Wilcox, CaughtOffside adds.
Statistically, Hall’s performances for the Magpies have placed him among the best fullbacks in the concluded Premier League season.
In possession, the five-cap England international has completed 1,075 of his passes at an 85.2% success rate according to FOTMOB. His 47 accurate long balls and 20 successful crosses have created 25 chances for his teammates.
Defensively, he averages 6.53 duels per game and over 170 defensive contributions, which include 12 possessions won in the final third due to his relentless pressing, 134 recoveries, 77 clearances, 28 interceptions, and 54 tackles.
He possesses the on-ball and off-ball qualities to thrive in Mikel Arteta’s system, but getting him won’t be easy due to fierce competition and Newcastle’s reluctance to sanction his departure.
