Arsenal open talks over deal to sign Eberechi Eze
Arsenal have opened talks with the agents of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze to discuss a possible move this summer, according to The Sun.
per transfer journalist Ben Jacobs.
The 26-year-old has established himself as a talismanic figure for the South London club since joining from Queens Park Rangers. He enjoyed a productive 2023/24 campaign, making 17 goal contributions in all competitions.
Following that, he was selected to play for England in the European Championship last summer and helped his country reach the final before losing to Spain.
Last season, the forward took his game to a new level after starting slowly. In 43 appearances in all competitions, he scored 14 goals and registered 12 assists. Moreover, he guided the Eagles to win the FA Cup by scoring the winner against Manchester City in the final. This is the South London club’s first major trophy ever.
Now, The Sun claims that Arsenal chief Andrea Berta has opened talks with Eze’s representatives over a possible switch this summer and are ready to hijack Tottenham’s move for the midfielder.
Eze to Arsenal
The forward has a £68m release clause in his current contract, which will expire in 2027, and the clause can be paid in three installments. Apart from the Crystal Palace star, Rodrygo Goes of Real Madrid is also on Mikel Arteta’s wishlist to bolster the left flank.
It’s not clear whether Eze is now Arsenal’s prime target or being lined-up as a possible back-up option should Berta fail to land Rodrygo.
Eze, who turns 27 on Sunday, is a left-winger by trait and has been showcasing his best as a left-sided CAM in a 3-4-2-1 formation at Selhurst Park.
Arsenal reportedly want to upgrade the left flank to close the gap with Liverpool, and Eze would be a great coup if they purchase him. He is a Premier League proven player and is currently at the prime stage of his career.
Eze is technically gifted, excellent in creating opportunities for fellow attackers, efficient in taking set pieces, and can also finish off his chances.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure the Crystal Palace ace to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
