Arsenal eye move to sign Nice star Evann Guessand
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move to sign OGC Nice star Evann Guessand, as per Caught Offside.
Having risen through Les Aiglons’ youth system, the 23-year-old made his first-team debut back in 2020. However, he was initially struggling to find regular game time.
Therefore, the Ivorian went out on loan a couple of times to play regularly and develop his career. Now, he has enjoyed a promising campaign for Nice this season, scoring 12 goals and registering eight assists in 40 appearances in all competitions.
He has been propelling his side to qualify for the Champions League by finishing in the top four. They are currently fourth in Ligue 1 with 57 points from 32 games.
The fourth-placed team from the French league will have to go through the qualifying round to reach the Champions League, so they would be looking to finish third and are just one point behind this position.
Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Guessand and have been following his development closely this season.
Guessand to Arsenal
Their scouts were in attendance to watch the forward in action against Olympique Lyonnais and Auxerre recently, and the player was excellent in both games, scoring against Les Bleu et Blanc.
However, the Gunners aren’t the only club interested in signing Guessand, as West Ham United, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United have all been keeping a close eye on him. The Hammers and the Villans are even willing to step up their effort to sign him.
The Nice star usually plays on the right side of the attack at Allianz Riviera but is also comfortable providing cover in the centre-forward position if needed.
The North London club are reportedly willing to sign a new striker and wide forward this summer to challenge on all fronts next campaign.
Guessand, valued at around £21m by Transfermarkt, is a talented young player and could be a useful option for Arsenal to add depth in the attack should they hire him.
However, the question mark is whether he possesses the necessary qualities to help the Emirates club achieve their lofty ambitions.
