Arsenal eye AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw for summer move

By on April 17, 2025

Arsenal are showing strong interest in signing AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw, as reported by CalcioMercato.

The 23-year-old has become a regular name in Serie A.

Thiaw has impressed with his performances since joining Milan from Schalke 04 in the summer of 2022. The Italian side paid just €7 million for his services.

He has gone on to feature in 83 matches for the Rossoneri and remains a key part of their defensive line.

His rise has caught the eye of several top clubs.

Arsenal face competition for the Milan star

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has built one of Europe’s most solid defences. However, Thiaw’s arrival could further improve their options at the back.

According to Transfermarkt, Thiaw is currently valued at £17 million. He is comfortable playing at centre-back, right-back, and even as a holding midfielder.

This makes him a very useful player for Arteta, who values tactical flexibility and squad depth. His skill set could add more balance to the Gunners squad.

Thiaw is also admired by several other clubs in England and Europe. Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are among the Premier League sides watching him closely.

Outside England, Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich have also expressed interest. Reports claim they have made early moves in the race to sign him.

Milan may be willing to sell Thiaw this Summer

Despite being a regular for Milan, the club may consider selling Thiaw in the coming transfer window. They are expected to make major changes this summer.

Milan will look to offload players who are no longer in their plans. At the same time, they will also aim to raise funds for new arrivals.

Their failure to secure a Champions League spot may push some players to seek a move away. This could open the door for Thiaw’s potential exit.

Arsenal’s interest could grow stronger if Milan indicate they are open to offers. A move to London may also be tempting for the young German defender.

The coming weeks will reveal more as the Gunners continue to assess their summer targets. Thiaw remains one of the names high on their list.
