Arsenal ready to spend big to sign Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal are reportedly ready to spend big money to sign Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres this summer, as per a recent Portuguese report.
The Gunners are reportedly planning to reinforce their frontline by signing a new prolific goal-scorer ahead of next season. A plethora of names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks with Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen being among them.
However, Arsenal haven’t opted to formalise their interest in signing Isak yet, while it appears Osimhen is going to join Paris Saint-Germain.
Therefore, the North London club have seemingly started exploring other options with Gyokeres on their radar as well. Arsenal were linked with a move for him earlier this summer but things seemingly cooled down in recent days.
However, it looks like Arsenal remain keen on signing him and have now decided to accelerate their efforts to lure the Swedish international to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Gyokeres to Arsenal
According to the report by Leonino (via The Standard), Arsenal have identified Gyokeres as a serious option to reinforce their frontline and have already agreed on a deal in principle with Sporting to get the deal done.
The report says the Gunners will spend a fee of around £86m to sign the player, therefore, it appears Arsenal are ready to break the bank to purchase their key target.
The Sporting star has come under the spotlight having displayed impressive performances at Jose Alvalade Stadium last season, scoring 43 goals and registering 15 assists in 50 appearances in all competitions.
The forward is quick, strong, good in the air, can link-up the play, is efficient in creating chances, has the efficiency of finishing off his chances, can hold-up the play and also works extremely hard without possession.
So, he possesses the necessary attributes to flourish in the Premier League and having previously played for Coventry City, he is familiar with English football.
Therefore, he could be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to secure his signature in this transfer window to reinforce their attacking department.
