Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a sensational swap deal to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.

It has recently been reported that Mikel Arteta isn’t happy with his current striker options and is looking to reinforce that department by purchasing a new prolific goal-scorer next year.

Several names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent times with Ivan Toney and Santiago Gimenez being among them but, Osimhen is seemingly on their radar as well.

According to the report by Fichajes, Arsenal have identified the frontline is an area that needs strengthening to challenge on all fronts and have identified Osimhen as the primary target.

The report further claims that Napoli want a huge fee to sell the Nigerian and Arsenal are planning to include Gabriel Jesus in a part-exchange deal to lower the asking price.

Osimhen to Arsenal

Fichajes also states that Napoli could be tempted to let Osimhen leave if the Gunners submit that proposal. So, Arsenal could manage to secure the African’s signature next year should they formalise their interest.

After joining Napoli back in 2020 from LOSC Lille in a £65m deal, the 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world, helping his side win the Scudetto last term after more than three decades. So, he would be a great coup for the North London club if they manage to secure his signature next year.

It has become apparent after the game against Manchester City that Arsenal need a prolific striker as despite displaying promising performance versus the Citizens, they lacked the cutting edge in the final third.

Although they eventually managed to win the game thanks to Gabriel Martinelli’s late strike that deflected off Nathan Ake, I think they might not be able to challenge on all fronts without a world-class striker going forward.

If they sign Osimhen then he has the qualities to address that issue so he would be a shrewd signing for Arsenal. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually decide to formalise their interest in signing the African in the upcoming window.
