Arsenal in ‘advanced negotiations’ to sign Leandro Trossard

Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Leandro Trossard in January, as per the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

It has widely been touted that following Gabriel Jesus’ injury, the Gunners are keen on adding reinforcement to the attacking department this month.

Mykhaylo Mudryk was seemingly the top target to bolster the front line, but after missing out to Chelsea, the north London club have been forced to explore alternative options, with Trossard – valued at around £26m by Transfermarkt – emerging as a serious target.

Writing on Twitter, Romano has stated that Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with Brighton to sign Trossard and with the deal progressing quickly, they hope to secure the move in the coming ‘hours’.

The journalist further states that the north London club already have ‘full agreement reached’ on personal terms with the player and the Premier League leaders are ready to submit an official bid to get this deal done swiftly.

Trossard to Arsenal

The 28-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign at the AMEX Stadium so far this term, scoring seven goals and registering two assists in 16 Premier League appearances before falling out with the manager Roberto De Zerbi.

It has come as a big surprise that Arsenal have opted to go for Trossard – who has been publicly slammed by the Brighton boss for lack of effort during games – to strengthen the forward line.

Arteta wants to deploy dynamic attackers who would press the opposition higher up the field. However, I think Trossard may not be the right type of player to play in that system.

Nevertheless, with the Gunners lacking options in their attacking department, the Belgian could be a useful addition as he can play anywhere across the front line. And he would offer support for both Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka when needed.

So, Trossard will provide more depth to the front line – if he ends up joining Arsenal this month – which would help the Gunners in maintaining a title charge this term.
