Arthur wants to join Arsenal but Juve demand £42m

According to reports, Arthur wants to join Arsenal after his agent held positive talks with Edu in London this week but Juventus are demanding a deal worth around £42m.

Mikel Arteta is in the market for a new midfielder this month as Arsenal have been left woefully short in the middle of the park and a replacement is needed after we allowed Ainsley Maitland-Niles to join Roma.

Thomas Partey is back from the AFCON sooner than expected but the Ghanaian is now suspended after being sent off against Liverpool on Thursday night while Granit Xhaka is also currently serving his own ban.

It means Arteta has been forced to play Martin Odegaard in a deeper role alongside 22-year-old Albert Sambi Lokonga so the boss is desperately trying to bring in another midfield option to help us during the second half of the season.

Arthur has emerged as a key target and the Mirror are citing a report from the print version of Corriere dello Sport that claims the South American wants to complete a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Positive talks

The Mirror says Arthurs agent, Federico Pastorello, held positive talks with Edu at London Colney on Wednesday and the midfielder is now keen on a move as he looks to rejuvenate his career in north London.

The 25-year-old has struggled to establish himself in Turin since joining from Barcelona in 2020 as he’s made just 3 Serie A starts so far this season so he’s hoping a move to Arsenal can get his career back on track.

However, Corriere dello Sport, via the Mirror, says Arsenal are proposing a six-month loan with the option to buy at the end of the season but Juventus want an 18 month loan with any sale being worth £42m [€50m].

Arsenal are reluctant to commit to such a deal without the guarantee of European football next season so it appears the two clubs are still struggling to agree terms over a transfer.

There is still hope a deal can be struck over the coming days and Arthur appears the most likely midfielder to arrive before the window shuts, but we’ll have to wait and see if a breakthrough in negotiations can be found.

    All these are waist of time what Arteta need to do is model a good system to sustain Arsenal to top 4 or 6 the summer is around then he will forgive Goundoezi and integrates him back for he is an upgrade together to the midfielders we have now even he is above Parttey if we can’t forgive we can’t forget what Arsenal need to sign are those players who already love Arsenal ThankGod they are many and good players as well
