Deal expected soon: Mislintat in talks with agent as Arsenal swoop for £22m star

By on May 14, 2018

According to TeamTalk, Arsenal are closing-in on a £22m deal to sign Bernd Leno with Sven Mislintat in advanced talks with the Bayer Leverkusen goalkeepers agent.

Arsenal chiefs are working hard trying to find a new manager after Arsene Wenger signed off with a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon.

However, despite the uncertainty over the managerial position, the club are still pushing ahead with our transfer plans and a new first choice goalkeeper is a priority.

Mislintat has been tasked with overseeing our transfer business and the former Borussia Dortmund chief has reportedly identified Leno as his prime target to replace Petr Cech.

Our current No.1 has shown his age this season as Cech has dropped some uncharacteristic errors and as he’ll turn 36 this weekend, a long term replacement is desperately needed.

Leno has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal recently and it looks like he’s now our main target as TeamTalk claim we’re working solely on a deal to sign the £22m-rated Leverkusen stopper.

The report says Mislintat is in advanced talks with Leno’s representatives and a deal is expected to be agreed soon that could see the 26-year-old become Arsenal’s first major addition of the summer.

Leno has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in German football in recent years and £22m for a keeper of his quality in today’s market seems like an excellent deal.

There is no doubt we need a new No.1 and Leno has the potential to be our keeper for the next 5+ years so I think he’d be a superb signing if we can lure him to the Emirates this summer.

Let’s hope Mislintat and the boys can get this deal done.
