According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are ready to cash-in on Hector Bellerin if £50m is put on the table to help fund the purchase of three new signings this summer.

Bellerin has been an integral part of Arsene Wenger’s starting eleven since breaking in to the first team in 2014 having joined the clubs youth academy from Barcelona in 2011.

The 22-year-old is undoubtedly one of the most promising young full-backs in Europe so it’s no surprise he’s attracted interest from all over Europe with Barca, Man City and Juventus all linked.

Arsenal refused to sell last summer when those clubs came calling but the Daily Mail claim we are now ready to cash-in on Bellerin as long as our £50m valuation is met.

The newspaper suggests that Hector would consider a move away if the right offer came along and Arsenal chiefs are prepared to sell in order to boost the clubs transfer kitty this summer.

Wenger is under pressure to walk away at the end of the season following a disastrous campaign but it seems like he’s still planning to stick around for at least another year.

Whoever is in charge this summer has a big rebuilding job to do and the Daily Mail claim head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is already working on signing at least three news players with a goalkeeper, centre-back and holding midfielder on the agenda.

There is no doubt we need to replace Petr Cech as his best days are behind him so a new No.1 should be a priority but a dominant centre-back is also desperately needed.

Shkodran Mustafi has been hit and miss this season while Laurent Koscielny hasn’t been as consistent due to a niggling Achilles injury so I’m glad to hear we’re in the market for a defender.

I’ve said for several months that we’re crying out for a proper defensive midfielder and I actually think that position is the most important one we fill this summer.

However, if we’re going to sell Bellerin to help fund our transfer plans then we’re going to need to replace him too and we actually need another right-back as we have no natural back-up for Hector as it is.

So it looks like it’s going to be a busy summer in north London. Let’s hope we get our transfer strategy right as we’ve got an important few months ahead.

Why sell if you have to immediately replace him? His transfer wouldn’t fund anything unless Arsenal are thinking of replacing him with some untested bargain player.

Must there be sales to fund acquisitions at this club for heaven’ sake?! Can’t they buy to ADD to the numbers!

I would bite the hand off any club that would pay £50m for Bellerin.

Going forward, he is quick and assists the attack, however first and foremost he is a defender and I don’t think he is that good at defending.

He gets caught out of position a lot (and not just after running up field to help an attack). I thought £50m that City paid for Kyle Walker was expensive, but in the reason game that Arsenal lost, Walker looked solid and contributed so much more to the team than Bellerin does.

For £25m, I would keep Bellerin, but any big offer replace him.

Reiss Nelson / Mailand Niles / Wilshere/ Ramsay need to be tied down to new contracts.
