[Photos] New signing spotted in training with Arsenal ahead of FA Cup clash
Konstantinos Mavropanos has been training with the first team today ahead of Arsenal’s FA Cup tie with Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon.
The 20-year-old became our first signing of the January transfer window after completing a £2.2m move to the Emirates from PAS Giannina on Thursday.
The Greek U21 international was identified as a target by Sven Mislintat and our new chief scout played a key role in luring the centre-back to north London due to his close ties with the players agent.
Mavropanos has now been getting to know his new team-mates at London Colney after training with the first team squad ahead of our trip to the City Ground on Sunday.
However, the youngster isn’t expected to be involved tomorrow as Arsene Wenger has already confirmed he’ll leave on loan this month with a switch to Werder Bremen on the cards.
The boss is expected to rotate his starting eleven at Forest with our key players rested ahead of the League Cup semi-final first leg against Chelsea on Wednesday night.
Sead Kolasinac has been spotted in training today but isn’t likely to be involved due to an ankle injury while Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud, Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny are also out.
