Arsenal linked with swoop for Chilean international
According to a report in the Mirror, Arsenal are eyeing a swoop for Arturo Vidal with the midfielder being tipped to leave Bayern Munich.
Vidal joined Bayern from Juventus in the summer of 2015 and has helped the club win consecutive Bundesliga titles during his two years in German football.
However, the Chilean international’s future at the Allianz Arena has been called in to question in recent months with Vidal enduring a mixed campaign so far.
The 30-year-old has only started around half of Bayern’s games and the Mirror are citing a report from Tuttosport that suggests he is now ready to seek a new challenge.
Arsenal were linked with Vidal before he joined Bayern and the report says we would renew our interest if he does leave the German giants either in January or next summer.
I’ve said for some time that central midfield is a real problem area for Arsenal and Granit Xhaka was exposed once again during the 5-2 win at Everton yesterday so I’d love to see a fighter like Vidal come to the Emirates.
However, we will face stiff competition as the newspaper says Inter Milan are also showing a keen interest as they want to lure Vidal back to Italy where he enjoyed a five-year spell at Juve.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but I’d welcome the signing of Vidal if we could pull it off. Maybe it would even persuade Sanchez to sign a new deal?
