Arsenal handed major double injury boost ahead of Leicester clash
Arsenal have been handed a major double injury boost with Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey both in contention to face Leicester City tomorrow night.
We welcome the 2015/16 champions to the Emirates for the 2017/18 Premier League opener on Friday evening and Ozil and Ramsey were initially considered major doubts for the game.
Mesut has been struggling with an ankle injury that kept him out of our Community Shield victory over Chelsea last weekend and Arsene Wenger confirmed at his press conference yesterday that the German international was a huge doubt to face Leicester.
The boss also said Ramsey was still feeling the effects of a calf problem that saw him miss the Wembley showpiece last Sunday so it looked as though we could be without two of our most influential players tomorrow.
However, it seems we’ve been handed some positive news as Goal journalist Chris Wheatley has reported this afternoon that Ozil is now fully fit and available to start while Rambo is also in contention to play.
He said on Twitter:
Ozil had fluid in his ankle but is now fully fit & will be available to start tomorrow. Ramsey trained today and also in contention to play. pic.twitter.com/KMFNknPPbP

Hopefully we see Ozil replace Iwobi in attack as the youngster was largely ineffective against Chelsea while I’d like to see Ramsey restored alongside Granit Xhaka in midfield with Mo Elneny dropping to the bench.
We’ll have to wait and see whether Wenger decides to start both players but it’s a major boost to have them available as we head in to the opening game of the new season.
