Arsene Wenger agrees terms over new two-year Arsenal deal – report

By on March 6, 2017

Arsene wenger

According to the Mirror, Arsene Wenger has now agreed terms with Arsenal over a new two-year contract – BUT he’s still not decided whether to sign it or not.

Wenger’s current deal expires at the end of the season and there is growing pressure on the Frenchman to call time on his 21-year reign in north London.

A large section of the fanbase is crying out for change having become disillusioned following yet another collapse with recent defeats to Watford, Chelsea and Liverpool meaning we’re out of the title race.

We also head in to tomorrow’s Champions League second leg trailing Bayern Munich by 5 goals to 1 so we have virtually no chance of progressing from the last-16 yet again.

There has been talk of a two-year contract extension being offered to Wenger, however, despite all the signs suggesting it’s time to go, the Mirror claim he’s now agreed terms over the new deal.

The newspaper says Arsene has held further talks with the club about his future and his new contract, and an agreement has now been reached over the financial aspect.

However, the good news is that the Mirror claim Wenger is yet to formally sign the deal and he’s still unsure whether to stay as he’s aware of the growing unrest among the fans.

The worrying thing is if he wasn’t seriously considering staying then he wouldn’t even be talking with the club about a new deal, so there must still be a strong chance he’ll sign a new contract.

Honestly, it would be a travesty if Wenger ends up signing the new deal. I’ve got a huge amount of respect for the man for everything he’s done but even he must know it’s time for change.

Irrespective of whether he thinks he’s still the right man for the job, the fact is the club is a total mess right now and the only way to move forward is with a clean slate next season.

Seriously Arsene, it’s time to go. Don’t tarnish your legacy even further….

It is really a shame, a pity, if this true. It all means that Wenger has no respect for himself, nor for the fans, nor for the Board which has given him a leeway to bow out, without the usual sack the follows similar situations where a world renowned club such as Arsenal comes to stagnation or even retrogression. How would we sit it out with Wenger for another two years. I bet, Arsenal would go into extinction before we are done with that. Really really sad.

If u r xtrong in thought, u won’t blame Wenger, maybe the shareholders. He can’t be a disgrace for the whole 20yrs at the same club. He must be making profit for the shareholders and maybe that is what they moxtly want. What I know for xure is that Wenger is capable of winning trophies but only if it comes to be the target.Champions league every year, Little cash on squard strengthening … Meaning saving big, making profit. Profit based football club, manager worth it!!!

I know how disgruntled arsenal funs are! How many teams have lasted several years without trophies than arsenal and aren’t being talked. The problem for arsenal isn’t the couch or players, but the mgt system. if your employ me and u instruct me do this and don’t these! Do u expect me to disrespect instructions of my boss, what if am sacked. That’s what applies to Wenger, if the board hasn’t given him money and instructions that, we want this quality of players, how much do you expect him to do, he’s to work as per expectations of the club but not in serving for the interests of the funs who don’t have investments in it.
His problem is the money is given purchase players, the budget is expected to look into wen purchasing. Though he tries his best, but he knows, the quality of players he’s using can’t win him any silver ware compared to others teams who have invested much in players.
So blame the board. Wenger is just a servant.
    Thanks

If Arsene really had the interests of Arsenal as his first concern he would have already worked with the board, planned his succession and have a committed manager onside and ready to step in. So if the board are offering a short two year contract it doesn’t look likely that he’s engaged with the clubs immediate and long term future. Which reminds me how his forward planning for player purchases and transfers was an annual pantomime of over expectation and ultimately disappointment. Fans are fully aware of the high degree of autonomy and wide managerial authority he has in many aspects of the club’s business, clearly more than most clubs, so he should take some responsibility for the transition – I would have expected him to be concerned about his legacy at least.

2fa cups in three years, 99% of clubs would love the record.
Wenger just raised fans expectations too high, but football is harder now.

People who think Wenger isn’t to blame they have been well and truely brainwashed by him. If you look at the tactics, team selections and even his excuses for losses it shows he isn’t actually a great manager anymore. Which other top team gets a spanking every year? 6-0, 8-2, 5-1 against Munich twice! There has been no real work on defence even though we get these silly results year after year. It’s embarrassing. We are the 5th richest club in the world but we do not act like it. Rather the manager will worry about paying wages of the staff? He should only be worrying about wages of the players! Why think about what we have to pay the stewards etc?

good news for me as an arsenal die hard fun
if u want arsene out, the only solution is to boycott watching games at the Emirates.
that way the bosses who only think of how much are we going to pocket at the end of the week face it hard. and forcing Wenger out will not be a difficult thing to do,but if u pay every time for the ticket whether there is winning or humiliation then they will not be bordered at all. choose, the money is yours
I’m truly a big fan of Wenger but now big man has failed to do the mixing well. maybe he will dream of a good team selection one night.

U guyz u all pretend to be fans of Arsenal but you are not, Wenger is one manager who loves and gave the all life for the Club… Wenger is a great man and U should stop maricing him, I say it again stop malicing Mr. Wenger..U go and join other clubs if u cant support Arsenal..Its you the funs your selves who have have made the club fall out u don’t know how to support..apart from malicing..your support for a club is so weak…Support the manager and support the players..Arsenal win trophies..I hate fans who think of change other than them changing..I hate u Arsenal fans especially those who Malice Wenger…
If you are all behind Sanches he would’nt love to leave, if u’re behind the all team plus its coach the team would perform..

Bonaroca:- I have nothing against Mr Wenger but I think that after 21 years as
manager he should he should resign. Unfortunately, Mr Wenger stuck to a system which he has used for 21 years and the Arsenal Style has now been exploited by
every League team. Young managers have followed his style and improved on it in fact one will notice that even the teams from the lower divisions have improved. It is a fact Arsenal are losing matches to what one consider weak teams. On paper they might be, but they have young managers who are learning fast, while the Mr Wenger is still operating the team on a 21 year style.
I hope the board will take into consideration the spectators who follow all
Arsenal matches Home/Away and not their pockets.

Bonaroca:- I feel sorry for Mr Wenger and the team. I have a feeling and most
probably I am correct EUFA choose the teams for the finals because at the end
of the day money talks. Whether referees are informed I do not know and would
not like to know, but for sure it seems that Arsenal are on the bad books of
referees or they have a grudge against Mr Wenger. Why so many refereeing errors
when Arsenal are taking part in this competition.
