Video: Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle: Koscielny rescues sloppy Gunners
Laurent Koscielny scored a second half winner to secure a vital 1-0 win over Newcastle United at the Emirates this afternoon.
We were well below par for the entire match and were fortunate not to be behind as Newcastle missed a number of chances to open the scoring.
However, we finally managed to create something of note and took our chance as Giroud’s perseverance to keep the ball alive following a corner led to Koscielny poking home from close range.
Newcastle pushed for an equaliser but Petr Cech kept us in the lead while Ramsey also missed a great chance to wrap things up in stoppage time.
We held on though and are now two points clear of Leicester after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Bournemouth.
