No Sanchez: How Arsenal Should Line-Up Against West Ham
The Premier League returns this weekend and Arsenal kick off their campaign at home to West Ham on Sunday. Here is how I’d like to see Arsene Wenger line-up the team:
Goalkeeper: Cech
Obviously. I can’t wait for Petr Cech to make his competitive debut this weekend. The lad is going to be a legend here.
Defence: Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs
I was glad to see Bellerin keep his place in the Community Shield and hopefully the boss sticks with him as his No.1 right-back this season. He hasn’t put a foot wrong and Debuchy needs to earn his recall.
Mert and Kos are nailed on to start but I’d like to see Gibbsy given a run-out at left-back. Monreal has been consistently good but it’s important Gibbs keeps match sharp as I don’t think there is much to choose between them.
Midfield: Ramsey, Coquelin
I’m not convinced by this pairing yet but with Wilshere now out for at least 6 weeks and Santi on the left in place of Sanchez, the boss is likely to persist with Ramsey alongside Coquelin on Sunday.
Attack: Cazorla, Ozil, The Ox
As previously mentioned, Cazorla is likely to continue on the left with Sanchez not yet fit enough to start. The Chilean super star is back in training but he’s not expected to feature this weekend.
The Ox deserves to keep his place after his goal last week while Ozil is obviously going to play in the No.10 role.
Striker: Walcott
Theo didn’t have a great game against Chelsea last week but he should get a few more opportunities to impress at home to West Ham. Giroud is a great impact sub if we need him.
This would be my team:
This is how I’d like to see us line-up, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Wenger sticks with an unchanged line-up from the side that beat Chelsea – which would mean Monreal in for Gibbs.
I’d be cool with that and we should have more than enough to see off the Hammers to kick the new season off with three points.
