Arsenal Prepare Bid For French Midfielder After Khedira Move Stalls
It looks like Arsene Wenger is set to make a fresh bid for Morgan Schneiderlin after our move for Sami Khedira hit a stumbling block over his excessive wage demands.
There has been plenty of speculation over the past week suggesting that Khedira was on the verge of joining Arsenal, with some reports claiming we’d agreed a €29m fee with Real Madrid.
However, news has emerged over the past 24 hours suggesting the potential move has stalled due to the 27-year-old’s wage demands, which are understood to be between £150,000-£200,000-a-week, depending on which newspaper you read.
It’s no surprise that Arsene has been put off by those figures and now the Express are reporting that the boss is going to switch his focus to other targets and is set to revive his interest in Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
We were in for the Frenchman earlier in the summer but backed off after the Saints rejected our opening bid – which was believed to be in the region of £12m – but it looks as though we’re ready to go back in with an improved offer.
Southampton are desperate not to let any more of their star men go after seeing Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw all leave this summer, so we’re going to have to pay a large fee to persuade the South Coast club to sell, but Schneiderlin’s wages will be much less than what Khedira is asking for.
The 25-year-old is also a couple of years younger, has vital Premier League experience and is a ‘proper’ defensive midfielder, so I’d personally prefer to see us sign Schneiderlin this summer.
We’ll have to see how things develop over the coming days and weeks, but hopefully we’ll have a new midfielder on board soon as the season is coming round quickly and new players need time to bed in.

We should offer £15m plus coquelin, similarly, I would like us to look at part ex deals for ryo and miquel with remy and caulker. Then i would say along with ospina and debuchy our business would be complete.

@bc 15m+coquelin for real madrid is a deal which may work in fifa but not real life. When coquelin can’t get into the starting lineup of Arsenal how will he possibly even play at Real.

wenger is right not to meet exorbitant wage demands, the last thing we want is discontentment in the camp.Other players in the past have moved on because of our rigid wage structure which has helped bring financial stability to the club. Now we can compete with some of the big boys but there are limits otherwise we will plunge the club into financial meltdown. So Mr Wenger stick to your guns on this as there are other options as good as Khedira.

Schneiderlin is young and he has EPL experience, and he is a more stable defensive midfielder, Khadira is also perfect, sweet and good, but I will prefer we go for Schneiderlin. Gunners 4ever.

I think wenger should try to meet the wage demand of sami we really need stability in the middle of the park plus an excellent striker not average.

Is the young Joe Campbell part of Arsenes plan for the coming season.? Or will he rather work with Yaya Sanogo?

I think Wenger should concentrate on bringing Khadira rather than his Country mate, who still need to be train into a better player yet disappointment at the end.
