Arsenal Chiefs ‘Trying To Secure’ £57m Double Deal – Report

By on June 24, 2014

According to reports, Arsenal officials are in Brazil trying to secure a £57m double swoop for winger Juan Cuadrado and striker Mario Balotelli over the next few days..

The Daily Star claim that Arsene Wenger has identified Cuadrado as a potential new recruit after scouting him over the course of last season.

It appears we are now going to step up our interest with the newspaper stating that the club have arranged to hold talks with the Colombian attacker’s agent, Alessandro Lucci, over in Brazil this week to discuss a potential move to the Emirates.

However, Fiorentina have set his asking price at around £28m, which could pose a problem, while it’s also understood the 26-year-old’s representatives have held talks with Bayern Munich and plan to meet with Barcelona officials at some point too.

The second part of this potential £57m double swoop is of course Mario Balotelli. The Italian has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in recent days and following on from reports suggesting that AC Milan chiefs had agreed to sell the player for £29m this summer, the Daily Star claim the 23-year-old’s agent, Mino Raiola, is going to meet Arsene in Brazil to discuss the finer details of the move.

Speculation has suggested we have already drawn up a bumper contract for the striker and are ready to make him one of the best paid players at the club, with Balotelli understood to be keen on returning to the Premier League this summer.

The signing of Balotelli would no doubt be met with excitement by the Emirates faithful, but I’d have my doubts about spending £28m on Cuadrado if I’m honest. The Colombian looks a decent talent, but if we’re going to bring in a winger this summer I think there are better options available.

With Bayern and Barca both also interested, it could be a blessing in disguise if we end up missing out on Cuadrado’s signature.

15-brian, It’s very unlikely that AFC will announce any signings until after the new kit deal comes into effect with puma in july. They wouldn’t want the new signing standing with an old nike shirt in the announcement pictures. So we may have some signings already (unlikely) but haven’t been told.

Am I the only gooner about that thinks the Balotelli signing is a massive mistake? Not only is he a plank but in reality, he isn’t even that good! Poor goal scoring record, poor attitude and poor discipline. I would rather Remy than Mario, heck, I would even rather Gyan.

chelsea’s got costa and we also hav mario…both strong, powerful kick but i think mario has more accuracy, both have crazy moments.luking foward to seeing mario in d arsenal shirt.but tell me my fellow gunners, how about cambpel and loic remy?remy is also fantastic but i dont tink having remy, olivier and mario would be realy effective.one must go atleast.but honestly i would have suggested that olivier should go but wenger wouldnt let this happen.

Arsenal should sign and wait for the announcement. bcos we hear alot of rumors Arsenal for this Arsenal for that. if I should be the one to sign I we prefer Sanchez and Juan. Mario is too arrogant and is a bad influence to the team

Hey people this is not only about who AW wants .It is also critically about which players want to come to Arsenal.
We should all be secure in the knowledge that Arsene does know!!

Ballotelli is a good striker, but is an idiot, so would not touch him with a barge pole. Man City and Milan both wanted/want to get rid of him and that is for a reason. A rotten apple, really.
Cuadrado though is a very promising player, a lot of talent? speed, trickery, technically great. I would love to see him.

REALLY REALLY hope we don’t sign Cuadrado! Very average player whos hit a good period of form. Watched a fair bit of Italian football last season who BT Sports and reminds me a lot like Gervinho (very unpredictable!)

Arsen wenger has been saying this for so many years but he end up with nothin except Kim Kalistorm from loan, I no the man that is how he only make promising nd before U no another Coach will buy those players. Imagine Chelsea have sign 2 players now Fabregas nd Diego Coster. Wat of Arsenal nothin we only make promising every day, Sagna has gone now, Arsen wenger neva buy the replacement. Tell me my brother are we moving forward or we are goin back. That man is the causes The reason why we are goin down 2 day.

Arsene Wenger never said anything about Mario Balloteli, these are just stories from newspaper bacause they are selling newspaper by publishing stories that most people are interested in. Wenger is at the world cup and he is scouting players there. He will never ever take Balloteli to Arsenal, unless there is serious talk first, between Wenger and Balloteli. Without that, Wenger will not go for Balloteli. Wenger says there is no truth about the story which was published by Metro.
