Report: Arsenal ‘Closing In On’ €8.5m Signing

By on April 18, 2014

Reports claim that Arsenal are closing in on the €8.5m signing of Eintracht Frankfurt defender Sebastian Jung after his agent confirmed our interest.

Jung has been impressing at right-back this season and it appears he’s caught the eye of Arsene Wenger with the boss on the look-out for potential replacements for Bacary Sagna.

The French defender’s contract is up in June and there has been no breakthrough with talks over an extension. The closer we get to the end of the season, the more it looks like Sagna will be off, and he’ll leave a huge void that needs to be filled.

Several names have been linked in recent months including the likes of Seamus Coleman, Serge Aurier, Lukasz Piszczek and Daryl Janmaat, but according to Jung’s agent, Mino Grillo, Arsenal have been scouting the German international and have a ‘very strong’ interest in signing him this summer.

‘In England we know Arsenal are very strongly on his trail for the summer,’

‘They have had scouts watching him in the Bundesliga. There is was interest in the past from Inter, Roma and Milan, but no recent contact.’ [source: Metro]

The Metro claim that we’re ‘closing in on’ an €8.5m (£7m) move for the 23-year-old full-back with the clubs transfer fixers working on the deal as we speak, and formal talks are expected to take place at the end of the season to tie up the move.

I’d personally like to see Sagna sign an extension and my gut feeling is he’ll end up staying, but it makes sense that the boss is drawing up a list of replacements in case the worst happens and he leaves.

My preferred choice would be Seamus Coleman from Everton but I doubt we’ll be able to persuade them to sell without having to pay a ridiculous price.

Who would you like to see replace Sagna if he goes?

It is time for wenger and his coaching crew to go.,even kroenke. These two are the set of leaders that lacks ambition, they think from their anus and both are not ready to change.what a selfish set of being because both are not ready to change and keep making the same mistake for good nine years. How can a coach in his right senses start a season wit a dull striker calling himself a soccer professional{Giroud}using arsenal to build players for french national team..i think i want to agree with the coach that tag wenger specialist in failure.,really i think he is.PSG is calling him now to replace their coach,he should take that bold step to work away i really do not want him to respect his relationship with arsenal, his contract or anything. As a matter of fact, wenger and kroenke are not fit to stay in arsenal.

@Harry Gabriel…that’s your opinion, and since you don’t have the power to decide who comes and leaves, you can please keep your opinion to yourself.

God bless you pijoe. harry should understand situation before making a statement . Monriho who said that thrash doesn’t understand the game than having acute results. He cannot boast of a stadium like Wenger. Wengr has helped Arsenal. people that abuse him are jelous of his achievement. wenger helped arsenal through crises and still kept them in champions league. it was not an easy thing. they said he has no trophy for 8yrs but he could present Emirate. ask leads and nottingham forest about it. Very soon Arsenal will dominate football. he used small players and still constantly made cl. it is no joke. Ozil purchase was a tip of iceberg. watch out for the surmer ok.

Some Arsenal fans make me laugh, a few weeks ago, majority of them wanted Arsene out, now after 2 wins over small teams, they want him to stay.
