Arsenal Missed Out On French Ace After Wenger Refused To Pay £15m Fee

By on February 4, 2014

As the fall-out from a disappointing January transfer window continues to unfold, there are reports claiming that Arsenal missed out on the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin after Arsene Wenger refused to meet Southampton’s £15m asking price.

The majority last month’s transfer rumours centered around attackers or strikers due to our obvious lack of depth up front. However, the final few days were all about central midfielders after it emerged that Aaron Ramsey was out for up to six weeks after suffering a set back in his recovery from a thigh strain.

Several names were linked with a move to the Emirates but in the end we made the surprise signing of Kim Kallstrom, with the Sweden international arriving from Spartak Moscow on loan for the rest of the season before we learned that he’s out for up to six weeks with a back injury.

However, the Express claim that Wenger made a serious enquiry over the availability of  Morgan Schneiderlin but a deal failed to materialise after he refused to pay the £15m Southampton were demanding for his signature.

The French international has been a revelation for the Saints over the past 18 months and would have been an excellent addition had the boss been able to strike a deal. The 24-year-old has experience in the Premier League and is coming to the peak years of his career.

But unfortunately it wasn’t to be and we’ll have to make do with what we’ve got until the likes of Ramsey and Kallstrom return to fitness. Thankfully, Jack Wilshere should be back to face Liverpool this week while Mathieu Flamini will return from suspension in two games time.

Would you have liked Arsenal to sign Schneiderlin?

Don’t believe a word of that rubbish. Arsenal weren’t quoted anything, for the simple reason, Schneiderlin is not for sale. Pochettino said this himself in a press conference, saying no one at Southampton would be leaving the club if he didn’t want them to leave. This is true because I watches the said press conference so therefore, why would Arsenal have quoted £15m if he wasn’t for sale.

Lazy boy journalism from the Daily star I believe !!!!!! Twats

Another figment of some random blogger’s imagination!

No players Saints wanted to keep were for sale during the window. Never going to happen!!

    £15m??

Are you out of your tiny mind?

Morgs is 24 years old, player of the year last year and the heartbeat of the midfield. I get that from an outside perspective it might seem a bit rich to claim that £15m isn’t even close to being enough, but you’re talking about an outstanding young player at a club which doesn’t need the money.

This story has about as much credibility as me writing on the Internet that Man City were quoted £15m for Wilshere.

You must be having a laugh 15m!!! Very expensive for a 24 year old that made more tackles and interceptions than any other midfielder last season. Was Southampton player of the year and just dominated arsenals midfield which contains ozil. Very poor story I’d believe it more if arsenal bid 15m and Southampton told them whereto go

Don’t worry he will be cheaper next year. Southampton are merely a yo-yo club come on he would shoot his foot off to join the Arsenal. So stop wetting the bed guy’s you would off soon known if we were in for him on my word don’t get too cocky.

It’s not a question of being ‘cocky’. Schneiderlein was never for sale. Had AW made an enquiry he would have been told (politely of course) to go away in jerky movements. Rubbish non story cooked up by some lazy hack. As for Saints being a yo yo club, we shall see.
