Lewandowski To ‘Reveal’ His Next Club – Arsenal?

By on November 6, 2013

Striker Robert Lewandowksi has revealed he’s already made his decision over who his next club will be after confirming he wants to leave Borussia Dortmund in search of a new challenge.

The Polish hitman is one of the hottest strikers on the planet right now after some devastating form in front of goal over the past 24 months, and his four-goal haul against Real Madrid in the semi-final’s of last years Champions League is one of the finest individual performances I’ve seen in recent years.

The 25-year-old’s contract is due to expire in June and a whole host of clubs have been linked with a move for him as they look to snap up the bargain of the century.

Arsenal are one of those clubs who’ve been strongly linked, along with the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United, and Lewandowski has now confirmed that he’s made his decision over which team he’ll join next summer and will reveal all next year.

“I will reveal my future next year,” said Lewandowski. “No one needs to get in touch with me anymore.

“I have decided what I am to do. I simply want to have a new challenge next season, despite the fact I am feeling very, very happy being at Borussia Dortmund.”

So could Arsenal be the club he’s decided to join? The majority will say no and immediately dismiss our chances – and they could very well be right. Bayern have been the heavy favourites to sign him and there’s even been talk that Dortmund will try to sell to a Premier League club in January in order to prevent their star man from joining their domestic rivals.

However, the striker claimed last month that he had not decided to join Bayern and even hinted at a move to England:

‘I will be able to sign a contract (with any club) in January, but I have never said that I will sign a contract with Bayern,’

‘It was a misunderstanding. It is true I had an opportunity to speak with Sir Alex Ferguson (last year), but we didn’t mention the transfer.

‘One day I would like to play in Premier League. It would be a great experience.’ Lewandowski is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail

The Express also suggest that Munich boss Pep Guardiola is not sold on the idea of signing Lewandowski, so perhaps he really could be heading to the Premiership?

If so, we’ve got as good a chance as anyone of being able to sign him. We’ve proven with the signing of Ozil that we can compete for the very best players and he’d fit into our system seamlessly. His signing would be right up there with the German’s and he would arguably make a bigger impact. With the Pole spearheading our attack, I think we’d be genuine Champions League contenders.

I still have a feeling he’ll end up at Bayern, but I’d be absolutely delighted if we somehow managed to land him. Fingers crossed!!

No chance. Unlike Chelsea, Utd, City, Madrid, Barca, Munich etc, we don’t speak with players until given permission to. Dortmund don’t want to sell, so nobody can speak to him legitimately until January.
If we were top of the league by January, we might have a shot at him, but if he has made his mind up already, that’s the end of it.
