RATINGS: My Ratings From Arsenal’s 2-1 Win Over Swansea

By on September 28, 2013

Arsenal battled hard to beat Swansea 2-1 on Saturday night to move two points clear at the top of the Premier League table. Here are my ratings:

Szczesny 7.5/10 – VERY lucky to get away with a lazy piece of play in the first half when he was almost caught in possession but apart from that he was excellent throughout. Off his line well on several occasions and handling was spot on. Made a smart save to deny Dyer from range.

Sagna 7/10 – Excellent first half from the Frenchman but was less effective after the break. He fell asleep in the build up to Swansea’s goal to allow Davies to cut in and eventually poke home.

Koscielny 7.5/10 – Another solid game from Kos at the back. Kept a leash on Michu well.

Mertesacker 7/10 – Read the game well and made some important interceptions but was caught out for their goal to allow Davies to get goal side and score.

Gibbs 7.5/10 – Made an excellent early tackle to deny Dyer and dealt with the pacey winger well throughout.

Wilshere 7/10 – Constantly left his wing position exposed in the first half. Lucky Tiendali didn’t take advantage. Was obviously told to stay wide at half time as he was far more disciplined in the second period. He worked his socks off to help Gibbs out and was linking up well with Ramsey too.

Ramsey 8/10 – Poor in the early stages but found his feet and marked another superb all-round display with yet another goal. In a real purple patch right now.

Flamini 7.5/10 – Superb at the heart of our midfield. I lost count of the number of interceptions he made as he broke up Swansea’s play. Picked up his customary yellow card but Flamini continues to prove why he’s one of the ‘buys’ of the summer.

Ozil 6.5/10 – Not at his best. Should have made it 2-0 just after we opened the scoring but he saw his effort easily saved when clean through. He still showed glimpses of his obvious quality but things just weren’t happening for him.

Gnabry 7.5/10 – Excellent performance from the young man. Was our main threat before he opened the scoring with a lovely finish. Worked very hard to help Sagna out at the back as well.

Giroud 7/10 – Missed an excellent chance to open the scoring on the stroke of half time but dragged his shot wide. Lovely flick set up Ramsey for the second goal though and he put himself about. His hold up play is important to our play.

Subs:

Arteta 6/10 – On to shore things up and break up the play. Unlucky to be booked.

Monreal – N/A

Another away win and we sit pretty at the top of the table. Add to that Man Utd and Man City losing, and Spurs and Chelsea drawing, it’s been the perfect weekend to be a Gooner!

What were your thoughts from the game?

I advise that Gnabry be deployed as a centre forward. I see him making a fantastic center forward.
