Barca ‘Paranoid’ Arsenal Will Activate Fabregas Clause As Man Utd Eye Third Bid

By on August 1, 2013

It seems Arsenal’s buy-back clause for Cesc Fabregas is causing a few sleepless nights over in Barcelona and it’s also the reason why the Catalans are refusing to strike a deal with Manchester United, according to reports.

United have already seen two bids rejected by Barca for Fabregas and the newspapers claim today that David Moyes is ready to go back in with one final offer worth £35m plus add ons.

However, it seems that bid is destined to be rejected once again with the Mirror reporting that Barcelona are being forced to reject ALL offers for Fabregas because of our buy-back clause that allows us to re-sign Cesc for just £25m IF Barca agree to sell him to someone else.

So for example, if Barcelona accepted a £40m bid from United, that would allow us to activate our buy-back clause and sign Fabregas for just £25m. Of course any move would be subject to Cesc agreeing to join us over United, but we know he would so that’s irrelevant.

The Mirror also claim that Barcelona have become ‘paranoid’ that we’re ready to use our clause and are just waiting for them to agree a deal with another club before activating it. This would possibly explain why we’ve been so quite throughout the whole Fabregas-To-United saga. Wenger knows we’ve got the clause, he probably also knows Cesc would opt to join us over United, so he’s just sitting back letting it play out and he’ll jump in if needs be.

The boss said this a couple of weeks ago:

‘We have the clause in the contract so we would be on alert. At the moment, Fabregas has decided to stay one more year at Barcelona. That’s what I’ve been told.’

Arsene has said many times that he still keeps in touch with Fabregas so I’m sure he knows the situation better than most. As I’ve said throughout this saga, Fabregas will never join United.

The Mirror’s report also suggests that Barcelona have come up with a cunning plan to circumvent Arsenal’s clause by allowing Fabregas the chance to buy out his own contract for £48m, but that’s just ridiculous and not even worth discussing.

Arsenal fans are rightly slamming the club for their transfer dealings so far this summer, but at least they got something right when they agreed a buy-back clause when we sold Cesc Fabregas two years ago! Hopefully we’ll get to use it some day soon….

Do you think there’s any chance Fabregas will re-join us this summer?

How do you know he’d reject united? Yous all thought the same about RVP. Arsenal are no longer title contenders so yous shouldn’t be surprised if he were to sign for united, even though, I think it won’t happen.

to Jordan – RVP was at arsenal for years and all he won was an FA Cup – he was 28 and doesnt have many years left at the top (by 31 you will see his decline) – united was a last chance to land some silverware. Cesc moved to Barc and has WON EVERYTHING!!!!! La Liga and Champions league! (and still only 25 years old) if he comes back Arsenal would become title contenders with the likes of Cesc, Wilshere & Carzola pulling the strings in midfield. So would he chose David Moyes’s united over Wenger (his father figure’s) Arsenal??? i seriously doubt that! you are a spent force now Fergie is gone!! R.I.P Alex Ferguson!!

Why would you think that he would ‘never’go to united?
He huffed around Arsenal, feigned injury (miracously healed 2 dqys afte he joined barca) and even missed a few suspect open goals qll during the time he was trying to force a move.

2 years ago you would have said rhe sqme about RVP.

This window and the previous 5 years ave shown players that Wenge is no longer a winner and that he has no ambition, plays any player on form until he breaks and will probablyj move them out of their prederred position just to prove some point
We can’t attract new playyers plain and simple because they want to win.
Wenger needs to go now, no mor living back in the day.

I would think Cesc would prefer Arsenal over United if he had to make a choice….but it’s possible a higher pay packet and greater confidence in being in the Champions League could sway him. I mean he is considering leaving his dream club, which is somewhat of a surprise in of itself. Also, one last gesture to Barca, of allowing them to profit from a higher fee, could be his way of leaving on the best possible terms. I’m a City fan, and would rather he go to Arsenal, obviously. But, just something to consider.

Why can arsenal not just offer 30 mil and sign him any way. It would stop the whole united offer in its tracks. Considering what baca still have to pay us for Cesc it would be a bargain.

To all Manure fans around the world, stick this to your little brain:
Barca forced to accept the Cesc’s buyback clause because they were running out of cash when they deal with Arsenal.
And who obsessed with Manure transfer bussiness? Our interest are only Cesc.
Speeking about no title, seem that we have the same common next season. According to your Manure brilliant “transfer bussiness”, lookslike your tittle will be gone along with the legend (with all due respect)Sir old grumpy red nose. Glory, glory Manure..

      August 3, 2013 at 11:30 am

Because the buy-out clause applies to Arsenal only.

Lets get a few things straight about the buy back clause. Firstly if you knew your facts yhen you would know that arsenal have first refusal at 25million if barca think of selling and if the player wants to go back to arsenal. So bassically the clause dont mean shit. This is why, cesc is now a winner, he has now developed a winning mentality and as sad as it is to say arsenal no longer present the same desire therefore a player of world class stock like cesc will only leave barca if there is a realistic chance of playing a major role in making a n impressive squad just that bit better. And with rvp and co he is almost gauranteed a shining season ahead of the world come. Which would be the only reason he would leave barca. He needs to be a big part of a team thats competing gor everything in order yo be looked at as a better option than xavi or iniesta for the national team. Aint tryna be biased just displaying the facts so even though arsenal fans say he will never join united. Ask uourself this are you talking about cesc as an arsenal player or cesc as a world class barca midfielder looking for more game time where he can still win things and make an impression again? Honestly this is whT I think will happen. Fabregas to united late on in the transfer window for around 40 million inc add ons, bale to madrid for around 93million and ronaldo back to united for around 85million. I know it sounds nuts but wTch this space.

    1. Cesc very unlikely to leave Barca.
    2. If he does leave Barca, he wont be going to any English club but Arsenal.
    3. If he does return to Arsenal: thank you to man u for allowing us to activate his release clause.
    4. That is all.
