[Photos] Arsenal chiefs & Aubameyang’s car spotted at Dortmund airport as talks continue

By on January 22, 2018

Arsenal chiefs have been snapped at Dortmund airport just feet away from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s car as we close-in on signing the Borussia Dortmund hitman.

Aubameyang was strong linked with a move to Arsenal throughout last week with Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claiming on Thursday that we’d agreed terms over a contract worth £8.8m-per-season.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc then confirmed on Saturday that we’d made contact to arrange formal talks over a potential deal with the Telegraph suggesting we had even submitted our first verbal offer in the region of £44m.

Photos have now emerged showing Arsenal chief exec Ivan Gazidis, head scout Sven Mislintat and legal expert Huss Fahmy all arriving at Dortmund airport on Sunday afternoon.

The pictures have been doing the rounds on social media and some eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Aubameyang’s distinctive chrome Porsche was also parked at the airport.

Here are some photos that have been published extensively on the web over the past 24 hours:

It’s obvious that Gazidis, Mislintat and Fahmy are there to hold talks with Dortmund but it’s not clear exactly why Aubameyang’s car is parked at the airport.

The Mirror claim Arsenal chiefs are due to hold more talks with Dortmund today and are prepared to break our club record to sign Aubameyang this month.

Some outlets in Germany say Olivier Giroud is being discussed as a makeweight with the French striker possibly joining Dortmund on loan as part of the deal, which would make sense for all parties.

We’ll have to see how things progress but we should have more news coming out later today after Arsenal and Dortmund hold their second round of negotiations.

Let’s hope we can get a deal agreed as Aubameyang would be an excellent signing.
