Video: Southampton 1-1 Arsenal: Giroud saves misfiring Gunners
Arsenal needed a late equaliser from Olivier Giroud to salvage a 1-1 draw with Southampton at St Mary’s this afternoon.
It was another nightmare start as we fell behind inside the opening two minutes. Poor defending from Mertesacker allowed Austin to make it 1-0.
The Saints could have added to their lead but missed a few decent chances while Ramsey forced Forster in to great save midway through the first half.
We bossed possession in the second half but struggled to create any clear cut chances until Giroud came off the bench to head home the equaliser in the 89th minute.
We couldn’t find a last minute winner so had to settle for a point which isn’t enough in a game that we should have been looking to take away three points from.
