Arsenal transfer news: German attacker linked – Wengers wants £20m deal

By on July 20, 2017

There has been plenty of Arsenal transfer gossip flying about so here is an update involving a potential move for Thomas Muller while Arsene Wenger wants £20m for Jack Wilshere….

So let’s start with Muller and the Daily Star are citing a report from Germany that claims Arsenal are one of several clubs showing an interest in signing the Bayern Munich attacker this summer.

Muller has been with Bayern his whole career and has helped them win countless trophies but the 27-year-old’s future at the Allianz Arena is far from certain.

The German international failed to hold down a regular first team spot under Carlo Ancelotti last season and as a result he managed to score just 5 goals – his worst total in his professional career.

Muller’s place is under even greater threat following the arrival of James Rodriguez on a two-year loan from Real Madrid so understandably there has been speculation suggesting he’ll look for a move this summer.

It seems Arsenal may be willing to offer Muller a fresh start here in England as the Daily Star are citing a report from Sport Bild that claims we are among the clubs interested in signing him.

However, the German publication says Bayern are insisting they don’t want to sell but even if they did we’d face competition from Chelsea, Liverpool and Juventus so it’s going to be extremely difficult to pull off a deal.

Muller would be a terrific signing but I only see us making any formal move for him if Alexis Sanchez leaves and I’d MUCH prefer we keep hold of our Chilean super-star. Anyway, we see these reports every year and Muller always ends up staying so this summer won’t be any different.

Now for the latest on Jack Wilshere and the Daily Star claim Arsene Wenger has told West Ham he wants £20m and a buy-back clause if they want to sign the midfielder.

Wilshere is in the final year of his contract and is expected to be sold this summer after struggling to overcome his constant injury problems which have plagued him for years.

Sampdoria were linked with a cheeky £6m bid earlier this week but it seems Arsenal want a lot more than that as the newspaper says we’ve told the Hammers we want £20m and a buy-back included in any deal.

I like the idea of a buy-back clause and West Ham would be a great move for Jack but I think we’ll struggle to get £20m for him considering his injury woes and contract situation.

It’s a sad end to what was once a very promising career for Wilshere at the Emirates but I personally hope he gets a move to West Ham and shows us all what he’s capable of.

Perhaps if he can stay injury free for a couple of seasons we might be tempted to trigger the buy-back clause – if we’re successful in negotiating one in to any sale this summer.
