Wenger Offers Update After Duo Pick Up Fresh Injury Concerns

Arsene Wenger has confirmed he was forced to take off Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini against Galatasaray last night after they picked up knocks during the first half.

Rambo was having a stormer of a game after assisting one and scoring two goals himself, with his second a an absolute screamer as he smashed home a left-footed volley from 30 yards out to give us a 3-0 lead at half time.

But the Welshman, along with Mathieu Flamini, failed to appear after the break and I just assumed the boss had decided to give them a breather as we were in control of the game.

However, Arsene has told Arsenal.com that he had to take the pair off as they had picked up knocks – Ramsey with a hamstring problem and Flamini with his calf.

The good news is the boss doesn’t think either injury is serious and they should be okay to face Newcastle this weekend.

Wenger said:

Ramsey had a hamstring, but should be alright for Saturday. Flamini had a calf, but should be ok.

Let’s pray that this doesn’t turn out to be one of those situations where Wenger claims an injury isn’t serious, only for the player to be ruled out for 3 months!

Losing Ramsey and/or Flamini would be a huge blow right now as we’re already having to make do without Wilshere and Arteta, so we’d have very few options left in central midfielder if either of those two were ruled out.
