Arsenal ‘Set To Make Move’ For £10m Midfielder – Report
It appears Arsenal are set to renew their interest in Maxime Gonalons with reports today claiming that we ready to compete with Napoli after they made a £10m bid for the Lyon midfielder.
Gonalons was linked with a move to the Emirates 12 months ago before he opted to stay at Lyon, where he’s been since he was just 10 years old, but the 25-year-old is reportedly keen for a new challenge this summer.
With Arsene Wenger on the look-out for a powerful ball-winner in the middle of the park, the Express claim we have resurrected our interest and are preparing an offer after Napoli tabled a £10m bid for the French international.
The newspaper doesn’t give us any indication as to what our bid might be, they just suggest we are ready to battle it out with Napoli for the players signature.
Gonalons is certainly a tough-tackling midfielder and he’d bring a bit of physical presence to our team. He’s also known to be good on the ball and in the air, while he’s also capable of filling in at centre-back if required, so he’d be a useful addition to the squad if we could bring him to north London.
Striker desperate for Arsenal move
Arsene has been tracking him for a while and it looks as though he’s now down as a serious option as a long-term replacement for Mikel Arteta, along with Morgan Schneiderlin with reports suggesting a deal could be close for the Southampton ace.
My preferred option would definitely be Schneiderlin, but we’ll have to see what the boss decides….
