Arsenal weighing up swoop to sign Bayern Munich’s Karl
Arsenal are reportedly considering signing Bayern Munich youngster Lennart Karl, as per TEAMtalk.
The 18-year-old started his youth career at Viktoria Aschaffenburg before spending a few years with Eintracht Frankfurt. He returned to Viktoria Aschaffenburg back in 2022 before joining the Bavarian club’s academy.
Karl made his first-team debut for Bayern Munich last year and featured as a rotational option last campaign. He helped his side win the domestic treble, scoring nine goals and registering seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.
After showing glimpses of his high potential at the Allianz Arena, Karl has secured his place in the Germany national team but didn’t feature in the World Cup due to a fitness problem.
After returning to full fitness, the youngster has struggled to play regularly this season. Still, he has contributed two goals across all competitions.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that alongside Karl’s struggles to play regularly under Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich are concerned about Karl’s off-field behaviour.
So, the Bavarian club might be open to cashing-in on him next year if his situation doesn’t improve over the coming months. Intermediaries have even started making calls to find a new destination for him.
Arsenal previously expressed their interest in him and have continued to keep a close eye on him. Therefore, they know about his current situation.

Moreover, Manchester United and Liverpool have been made aware of his situation, while Real Madrid and Barcelona hold a long-standing interest in him.
The report state that having recently tied Karl down to a fresh contract until 2029, Bayern Munich are in a strong position to demand a big fee for him, with the player valued at around £50m by Transfermarkt.
Karl is a versatile forward as he is comfortable in the right-wing and creative midfield positions. He is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, is efficient in finishing off his chances, and can create opportunities for fellow attackers.
Arsenal currently have Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke as right-wing options; moreover, Max Dowman can provide cover in this position if needed.
However, Saka has struggled with fitness problems in recent years, while Madueke has displayed inconsistent performances since joining from Chelsea.
So, it appears Mikel Arteta is planning to add further depth to the right flank. Karl is a top-class talent and would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him.
