Arsenal interested in signing Como star Nico Paz
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Como star Nico Paz, as per Spanish outlet Bernabéu Digital.
After coming through Real Madrid’s famous La Fábrica academy, the 22-year-old made his first-team debut in 2023. However, he struggled to break into Los Blancos’ star-studded starting line-up. So, he joined Como a couple of years ago to play regularly and develop his career.
The youngster showed glimpses of his qualities at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia during the 2024/25 campaign before taking his game to another level last season.
In 40 appearances across all competitions, Paz scored 13 goals and registered seven assists. Moreover, he helped his side qualify for the Champions League by finishing fourth in Serie A.
Having proven his worth in club football, the 22-year-old secured his place in Argentina’s World Cup squad but struggled to break into the starting line-up.
This season, he has enjoyed a promising start, scoring a solitary goal in three Serie A appearances. He has even helped his side accumulate seven points thus far.
Now, Bernabéu Digital report that after being impressed by his recent eye-catching performances, Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing him and could make a move next summer.
Paz to Arsenal
Although Real Madrid sold the South American to Como, they have a buyback clause for around £69m[€80m], with his existing deal at Como set to run until 2028.
Paz is a left-footed creative midfielder by trait but can provide cover on the right flank if needed. He is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and is efficient in creating opportunities for the attackers.
Moreover, he has an eye for scoring goals from distance and works hard without possession. Paz is one of the best players in Serie A and hasn’t reached his prime yet.
Therefore, he would be a great coup for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services.
Meanwhile, Martin Odegaard has been an undisputed starter in the CAM role for Arsenal over the last few years, and Eberechi Eze can also be deployed in this area if needed.
