Arsenal are set to host city rivals Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium in a crucial Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon.

After becoming the English Champions last season, the Gunners have enjoyed a promising start this term. Initially, they lifted the Community Shield by thrashing Manchester City 3-0.

Moreover, Mikel Arteta’s side won the opening Premier League fixture against newly promoted side Coventry City before defeating Aston Villa on Monday.

On the other hand, Chelsea have enjoyed a strong start under new manager Xabi Alonso, winning the first two games against Fulham and Brighton and Hove Albion.

Team news

After picking up a knock against Manchester City, Bruno Guimaraes was sidelined vs Coventry City. He returned to action on Monday but sustained a knock against Aston Villa once again. So, he is in doubt for this fixture.

Cristhian Mosquera started the first three matches but picked up an injury against Unai Emery’s side. As a result, there is a question mark over his availability this weekend.

Jurrien Timber, meanwhile, has been sidelined due to an injury over the last few months, but he could return to the matchday squad vs Chelsea. However, William Saliba is unavailable for selection owing to his back problem.

Predicted line-up

David Raya is set to continue between the sticks, meaning Kepa Arrizabalaga and Illan Meslier will have to make do with a place on the bench.

If Mosquera can’t start, Ezri Konsa is likely to be called upon to commence in defence alongside Gabriel Magalhaes for Arsenal. Ben White should be in the right back position, while Riccardo Calafiori might be on the opposite side.

Myles Lewis-Skelly is expected to be in the deep-lying playmaker position, and Declan Rice could be in the box-to-box role, with Martin Odegaard in the CAM position for the North London club.

Christos Tzolis should be deployed on the left flank, and Bukayo Saka might be on the right wing. Kai Havertz should be leading the line for the hosts. In that case, Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke would have to settle for a place on the bench.
